Press Release: Quick Rescue for Truck Driver and Dog After Ditch Incident
STERLING, CO – A semitruck driver and his dog were successfully rescued after their vehicle rolled into an irrigation ditch off County Road 29 and Highway 14 on Tuesday, as reported by the Sterling Fire Department.
The driver was transporting an empty cattle trailer when the accident occurred, leading the truck off the highway and into the water-filled ditch. First responders, including the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol, quickly arrived at the scene. Fortunately, they were able to communicate with the driver and confirmed that he sustained no injuries.
Despite his unscathed condition, the driver was unable to exit the cab on his own due to the surrounding water. Responding teams utilized ladders to access the truck’s cab, successfully extracting both the driver and his devoted canine companion without incident.
Once the evacuation was complete, Little Tornado Recovery was called in to safely remove the stranded semitruck from the ditch, ensuring the area was clear for traffic and restored to its previous state.
