Sherwood and Joshua lead Canucks to a 4-1 victory in Avs’ final regular-season home game

In a game where the Colorado Avalanche rested their leading scorer Nathan MacKinnon, the Vancouver Canucks emerged victorious with a 4-1 win. Kiefer Sherwood and Dakota Joshua each contributed a goal and an assist, while Kevin Lankinen made 31 saves for the Canucks. Jake DeBrusk and Nils Hoglander also scored for Vancouver, who have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Devon Toews scored the lone goal for Colorado, with Mackenzie Blackwood making 26 saves for the Avalanche. Colorado, who will enter the postseason as the Central Division’s No. 3 seed, played without several key players including defensemen Ryan Lindgren and Josh Manson, as well as forwards Jonathan Drouin and Ross Colton.

Gabriel Landeskog, the Colorado captain, began a conditioning assignment with the minor league Colorado Eagles as he continues to recover from a knee injury. The Avalanche are hopeful that Landeskog will be ready to return for Game 1 of their playoff series.

The Canucks finished the season with a perfect 3-0 record against the Avalanche, marking the first time they have swept the season series since 2016-17. Meanwhile, Colorado’s defensemen have combined for an impressive 206 points this season.

Looking ahead, Colorado will wrap up their regular season with a back-to-back series starting in Los Angeles, while Vancouver will host Minnesota on Saturday.
