Main suspect in Denver double homicide identified as 19-year-old | Crime & Justice

A fatal shooting at a Denver 7-Eleven has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man, Fabian Vasquez, who is the main suspect in the case. The incident, which witnesses claimed started as a shootout, resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Vasquez was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly exchanging gunfire with police officers. Another individual, 18-year-old Dominic Gallegos, was arrested on suspicion of being a previous offender in possession of a handgun. The involvement of Gallegos in the incident is still under investigation, but it appears he was involved in the argument that led to the shooting.

Police officers heard gunfire at the 7-Eleven gas station and confronted Vasquez, who allegedly fired at them before fleeing the scene. He was later found hiding behind a building a few blocks away. The victims, a 30-year-old man and a 42-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene and at a nearby hospital, respectively. Witnesses claimed the incident started as an altercation between two groups, with one witness stating that Gallegos and his brother pulled handguns before the shooting occurred.

Both Vasquez and Gallegos are currently facing legal proceedings, with Vasquez due in court on Thursday. The Denver District Attorney will determine the exact charges for both suspects, while the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will identify the victims. The involved police officer has been placed on offline assignment pending the outcome of the investigation. 7-Eleven representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
