DEA apprehends suspected Tren de Aragua gang member in Denver

Anti-narcotics agents in Denver have successfully arrested a suspected member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The arrest was made overnight, and few details have been released due to the ongoing investigation.

The DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division has been actively pursuing drug criminals in the area, with a recent focus on the operations of Tren de Aragua. Last Sunday, a search warrant was executed at a makeshift nightclub in Adams County, resulting in the detainment of 49 individuals, 41 of whom were unlawfully residing in the U.S.

The investigation into the Venezuelan prison gang and drug trafficking activities began under the Biden administration and was carried out under the Trump administration. Tren de Aragua gained notoriety last year for taking over a rundown apartment complex in Aurora, leading to the eviction of about 300 people.

Trump’s executive order expediting removals has allowed ICE agents to conduct operations anywhere in the U.S., rather than being limited to within 100 miles of the border. This order also applies to individuals who have been in the U.S. for up to two years.

The recent arrest is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and gang activity in the Denver metro area. The DEA’s work, in collaboration with local law enforcement, aims to dismantle criminal organizations and keep communities safe.
