Severe Weather Warnings Issued for Denver Area Amidst Colorado’s Winter Conditions

Denver, CO – As Colorado’s mountains continue to accumulate snow, the Denver area is facing starkly different weather on Monday, with red flag warnings and windy conditions in effect. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder, residents should expect patchy blowing dust, particularly from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The forecast for the day indicates clear skies with temperatures climbing to a high of around 47 degrees.

Windy conditions are a major concern today, with the NWS reporting west-northwest winds ranging between 15 to 20 mph, intensifying to 21 to 26 mph in the morning hours. Potential wind gusts could reach as high as 44 mph. Consequently, a red flag warning has been issued, lasting from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., highlighting the elevated risk of fire conditions due to dry and windy weather.

As the evening approaches, temperatures are expected to drop to a low of around 20 degrees, with northwest winds easing to 5 to 10 mph and possible gusts up to 15 mph.

Looking ahead, the NWS has provided a four-day weather forecast for the Denver area. On Tuesday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 36 degrees and light southeast winds shifting northeast in the afternoon. New Year’s Day will see similar sunshine with a high around 41 degrees and variable winds. Midweek temperatures will remain mild, with highs nearing 43 on Thursday and 48 on Friday.

Citizens are advised to remain cautious during potentially hazardous weather conditions this week. Stay tuned for further updates from the National Weather Service.
