Homecoming Surprise: Major Alexis Carrington Returns to Denver Just in Time for Thanksgiving
DENVER — Major Alexis Carrington, a dedicated member of the U.S. Army Reserve, made a heartwarming return to her family after a five-month deployment in the Middle East. As a lead physician, she played a crucial role in safeguarding her fellow service members from diseases during her time overseas.
While serving her country, Carrington missed her home life as a wife and mother, making her surprise homecoming for her son, Joshua, particularly special. Although Joshua knew his mother was scheduled to return, he was unaware of the elaborate surprise planned for him at Stedman Elementary School. Carrington envisioned simply walking into his classroom to say, “Mom’s home,” but the school community had different plans to create a memorable moment.
During a school assembly filled with songs honoring the military, Carrington emerged from behind the curtains. It took a moment for Joshua to recognize her, but when he did, his excitement was palpable as he rushed to the stage to embrace his mother. "I don’t think I have words, especially to be able to surprise him… It’s amazing," Carrington expressed, reflecting on the heartfelt reunion and the supportive environment fostered by the school community.
Returning home, Carrington shared her joy, stating, "It’s great to be home." Her homecoming not only highlights the sacrifices made by military families but also the strong sense of community that envelops them. This Thanksgiving, Carrington has much to be thankful for, including the love and support of her family and the vibrant Denver community.
