A technical issue has hit Instagram, with over 2,000 users reporting problems with sending messages and accessing direct messages (DMs) on the platform. The outage began at around 5:14 pm on Tuesday, according to Downdetector. Users have taken to other social media platforms to express their frustration and check if others are experiencing similar issues. There has been no official statement from Instagram or parent company Meta on the cause of the technical difficulties. Users are advised to check Instagram’s status page and Downdetector for updates. In the meantime, many users are turning to alternative social media platforms to stay connected. This is not the first time Instagram has faced technical issues, with previous widespread outages impacting thousands of users in the past. In October 2021, both Facebook and Instagram experienced a significant outage, with thousands in the US affected. Earlier in the year, a technical issue caused disruptions for hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users globally. Despite the ongoing issue, Instagram users are encouraged to stay patient and monitor official channels for updates on the outage.
