CU Denver’s Smart Futures Lab supports and empowers innovative small businesses.

Ten innovative companies have successfully graduated from CU Denver’s Smart Futures Lab, an incubator program dedicated to helping tech-focused startups launch and thrive. The program aims to attract top companies to Colorado and connect them with resources and expertise to enhance Denver’s smart city initiatives. According to Dan Griner, the lab’s director, there is a need for more investment in Smart Cities technology in the U.S.

Addazu, a company specializing in modular homes made of flat-packed steel pieces, is one of the startups that has graduated from the program. CEO Kelly Pickering is driven by a desire to revolutionize the housing industry by making homes more affordable, efficient to build, and architecturally diverse. Addazu is looking to secure investments for construction projects along the Front Range and has plans to expand beyond Colorado in the future.

The program culminated in pitch meetings at the Tivoli Student Union, where graduates had the opportunity to present their businesses to investors and demonstrate their potential impact on Denver’s infrastructure and community. The Smart Futures Lab is committed to supporting these emerging companies in their mission to drive innovation and contribute to the growth and development of smart technologies in Colorado.
