How to Watch SpaceX and NASA’s Crew Launch to the Space Station

NASA and SpaceX are aiming for a Saturday launch of the Crew-9 mission, with astronauts Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov heading to orbit aboard a Dragon spacecraft. The launch window had been planned around Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida but did not affect the launch site. The Dragon will separate from the Falcon 9 rocket and head to the International Space Station for a five-month mission, delayed due to issues with the Starliner spacecraft.

NASA will provide coverage of the launch, docking, and mission activities. This represents the ninth crew rotation mission to the station under NASA’s commercial crew program, with the astronauts conducting experiments and spacewalks to prepare for deep-space exploration. Hague and Gorbunov will replace the Crew-8 astronauts at the station and bring back the Starliner astronauts in February.

The Crew-9 astronauts include Nick Hague, an experienced NASA astronaut and U.S. Space Force colonel, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov. Two other previously announced crew members, Zena Cardman and Stephanie Wilson, are eligible for reassignment on a future mission.

The Crew-9 mission marks another step in the commercial crew program, with NASA shifting to private companies for missions. The astronauts will spend six months at the station, conducting research and maintenance tasks to support future human space exploration efforts.
