On September 11th, a 9/11 remembrance event is set to take place at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The annual Colorado 9/11 Stair Climb honors the lives lost in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Firefighters, first responders, victims, family members, and supporters participate in this tribute event.
Organized by West Metro firefighter Shawn Duncan, this event is in its 15th year and attracts thousands of participants. The climbers will do nine laps around the amphitheatre, totaling 110 floors, symbolizing the number of floors in each of the twin towers of the World Trade Center before they collapsed. Duncan emphasized that this climb is a unique way to remember the events of 9/11 and to honor the sacrifices made by firefighters on that day.
Before the participants begin their walk around the venue, a moment of silence will be observed at 8:46 a.m., marking the time when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. This event serves as a way for the community to come together, show unity, and reflect on the tragedy that occurred twenty years ago. The 9/11 remembrance event at Red Rocks is a poignant and meaningful way to pay tribute to the lives lost and ensure that they are never forgotten.
