Diamondbacks use back-to-back wild pitches to take lead, come from behind for 5-4 victory over the Rockies – The Denver Post

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured their fourth straight win against the Colorado Rockies with a 5-4 victory on Monday night. Corbin Carroll and Kevin Newman scored on back-to-back wild pitches in the seventh inning, propelling their team to a win. The D-backs have been on a hot streak since the All-Star break, with an 18-5 record. Jake McCarthy, Josh Bell, and Newman all contributed with two hits each, while Brandon Pfaadt had a strong outing on the mound, striking out 11 batters. In the sixth inning, the Rockies took a 4-1 lead, but the Diamondbacks rallied, scoring two runs to take the lead in the bottom of the same frame. Jake Cave had three hits for Colorado, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Arizona’s late-game surge.

In terms of injuries, Rockies’ Kris Bryant was placed on the 10-day IL due to a back strain, while Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte left the game early due to a left ankle injury. The pitching matchup for Tuesday’s game featured Rockies’ Austin Gomber against Diamondbacks’ Eduardo Rodriguez. Gomber has been struggling with a 5.54 ERA in his last seven games, while Rodriguez returned to the mound after a long absence due to a shoulder injury. The game ended with a 7-3 win for the Diamondbacks, with Rodriguez pitching effectively for Arizona. The Rockies and Diamondbacks are set to face off again on Wednesday and Friday, with more MLB action to come.
