By approximately 4 p.m., resort staff were assisting with the evacuation of the last few gondola riders. "The evacuation of guests was completed without further incident," the spokesperson stated, assuring that the Winter Park team, alongside the Colorado Tramway Safety Board and gondola manufacturer Leitner-Poma, is diligently working to understand what caused the malfunction.
To expedite repairs, a replacement part is being sourced from Grand Junction, although no timeline has been provided for when the gondola will be back in operation. The spokesperson confirmed that the gondola, which transports visitors to an elevation of about 10,700 feet, will remain closed on Sunday.
