Councilmember from Aurora addresses issue of gang presence at Trump rally

Aurora City Councilmember Danielle Jurinsky recently spoke at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Aurora about the need for help in dealing with an international gang operating in the city. Police officers approached her for assistance, expressing concern over the gang’s control of local apartment complexes. Since then, Aurora officials have acknowledged the presence of the Tren de Aragua gang in the city, which originated in Venezuelan prisons.

The issue came to light when over 300 people were evicted from the Aspen Grove apartments due to safety concerns and code violations, including the presence of gang members. Concerns about the gang’s influence on other properties owned by CBZ Management also surfaced, with reports of rent collection and intimidation tactics.

At the rally, Jurinsky emphasized the need to address the gang activity in Aurora and protect the residents. She highlighted the impact the gang has had on the community and emphasized the need for action. Despite initial denials by city officials, the situation has escalated, leading to increased awareness of the gang’s presence in Aurora.

Jurinsky, who discussed the issue ahead of the rally, stressed the importance of addressing the gang problem while acknowledging that it has been overstated. She also criticized the shutdown of her business during the pandemic and vowed to continue fighting for her community. Mayor Mike Coffman welcomed Trump’s visit to address misconceptions about Aurora and showcase efforts to combat gang activity in the city.
