Press Release: Community Mobilizes in Search for Missing Denver Hairstylist
Denver, CO – A widespread search effort is underway for Jax Gratton, a 34-year-old hairstylist missing since April 15. Gratton was last seen at approximately 10 p.m. in the 4200 block of East Iliff Avenue. The Denver Police Department has confirmed her height as 5 feet 8 inches with blue eyes, and reports indicate her hair was dyed red at the time of her disappearance.
Friends and family, led by her mother Cherilynne Gratton-Camis, are deeply concerned, highlighting Jax’s pattern of constant communication, especially given her history of relationship abuse and mental health challenges. "It’s just so strange that she hasn’t called anybody," her mother stated. Following her recent move in February, Jax had been less communicative, but her absence on Easter Sunday raised alarms.
A particularly troubling sign is that Jax left behind her beloved cat, Madame Francesca, and her camera—items she cherishes most. "She’s my daughter. I just want her back alive," Gratton-Camis expressed.
Community response has been robust, with numerous efforts to raise awareness. Tynk Insy, a long-time friend, emphasized Jax’s nature, stating, "She would not just up and disappear." An alumni network created by Gratton at Rainbow Alley, an LGBTQ+ youth center, has mobilized to support the search. Recent efforts include posting flyers at Washington Park and online outreach.
Gratton-Camis reached out to Search Light Colorado, a nonprofit aiding missing person cases, which has assisted with posters and tips. A public Facebook group aimed at spreading awareness has attracted nearly 2,000 members.
The community continues to rally, urging anyone with information about Gratton’s whereabouts to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit their website.
