Investigation Ongoing in Murder of Colorado Professor
Authorities in Colorado Springs are actively investigating the murder of Haleh Abghari, a 54-year-old professor and renowned vocal artist, whose body was discovered in her home in August. Local police announced this week that they have identified a suspect, Ceasar Lorenzo Wilson, 53, and issued a second-degree murder warrant for his arrest. As of now, Wilson remains at large.
On August 12, police responded to an "unknown call for service" around 7 a.m. and found Abghari deceased, having suffered a stab wound. While the El Paso County Coroner’s Office is still conducting an autopsy, police have classified the case as a homicide. Neither the cause nor the manner of death has been officially disclosed, and further information from the coroner’s office has not been released.
Police investigations have led to Wilson, although details surrounding the relationship between him and Abghari have not been disclosed. In a statement, authorities urged the community to assist in locating Wilson but warned that he is considered "armed and dangerous," advising citizens not to approach him.
Abghari was a respected voice professor at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, celebrated for her contributions to the arts and human rights. A GoFundMe campaign established for her family describes her as a "dedicated daughter, sister, friend, performer, teacher, advocate," highlighting her passion and legacy in both her personal and professional life.
As the investigation continues, police remain committed to solving this tragic case and bringing justice for Abghari, whose loss has left a significant impact on her community and colleagues.
