Snow entering the metro area Thursday night and continuing through Friday

Heads up, Denver! Big weather changes are on the way. A cold front will bring strong winds, with gusts reaching 40-45 mph, and temperatures dropping from the 60s to the 40s by this afternoon. Due to the dry conditions and high winds, there is a high fire danger, especially in areas south of Denver. Tonight into Friday, snow is expected in the mountains and foothills, with rain turning to snow in lower elevations like Denver. The snowfall may reach up to 6-12 inches in higher elevations by Saturday. Friday and Saturday will be much colder, with highs in the 30s to low 40s, and intermittent snowfall. Roads may be slick, especially near the foothills and Palmer Divide. However, by Sunday, temperatures will begin to warm up again, just in time for Easter Sunday. Next week is expected to return to more normal spring weather, with some breezy afternoons and possible mountain showers. Stay updated on Denver weather with the Denver7 live weather stream. Make sure to check road conditions before driving through the mountains during the snowfall. Stay safe and stay warm!
