This year’s Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan took place earlier than usual, attracting visitors with new projects, collaborations, and design trends. Loewe showcased an array of artist-designed teapots, while Bolzan presented expressive headboards curated by Zanellato/Bortotto. Textile reissues included carpets inspired by Bruno Munari and upholstery fabrics by Anni Albers. The use of aluminum in furniture was explored by Studio Haddou Dufourcq and Pouenat, while Dimorestudio showcased a 1970s villa and furry chairs.
Rop van Mierlo’s shag rugs for CC-Tapis added a fuzzy touch, while experimental glassworks by 6:AM Glassworks in a maze of showers brought excitement to the fair. Casa Cabana curated a craft show focusing on traditional crafts with modern techniques. Michael Anastassiades presented a multitude of lights in collaboration with Flos, while Béton Brut celebrated the legacy of Salvino Marsura.
The Visteria Foundation promoted Polish design at the “Romantic Brutalism” exhibition, featuring pieces by Polish artists and designers. Jil Sander’s collaboration with Thonet reinvented Bauhaus classics with neutral and bold finishes. Overall, the fair showcased a diverse range of design projects, collaborations, and trends, solidifying its status as a premier event in the design world.
