DU Pioneers’ Zeev Buium signs with the Minnesota Wild

St. Louis – Zeev Buium, the sophomore defenseman for the DU Pioneers, has announced his plans to join the Minnesota Wild in the NHL. Buium, who was selected 12th overall in the 2024 NHL draft, had a strong season with the Pios, collecting 48 points and being named NCHC Player of the Year. Despite a tough loss in double overtime to Western Michigan, Buium is eager to make an impact in the NHL and help his team win.

Buium was also a finalist for the Hobey Baker award, given to the top NCAA Division I hockey player. Although he lost out to Michigan State’s Isaac Howard, Buium’s exceptional skills and character have garnered attention and praise from fans and experts alike. The defenseman, along with DU senior forward Jack Devine, was named a first-team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

The Hobey Baker award, named after the late Princeton hockey player, is a prestigious honor given to players who demonstrate integrity, character, and outstanding skills in the game. Buium was one of three finalists for the award, selected through a voting process involving media, NHL scouts, and college hockey coaches.

The news of Buium’s move to the NHL has generated excitement among fans and teammates, who have seen his talent and dedication on and off the ice. As Buium prepares to take the next step in his career, the DU Pioneers and their supporters are confident that he will continue to excel at the professional level.
