A small passenger plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in Arvada, Colorado, injuring four people. The incident occurred on June 7, around 9:30 a.m. local time, causing the plane to catch fire. Local residents quickly came to the aid of the victims, pulling them from the wreckage.
The plane, identified as a 1969 Beechcraft 35, had taken off from Centennial Airport and was headed to Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport. The pilot reported engine issues to air traffic control, prompting an emergency landing attempt. The plane ultimately crashed into a yard, with its wing potentially hitting a tree, causing it to skid down the road.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting an investigation into the crash, with the plane set to be transported to an NTSB facility for evaluation. The pilot’s actions in attempting to land on a roadway or nearby train tracks in an emergency situation are being scrutinized.
Witnesses with relevant information or surveillance footage are urged to contact the NTSB at witness@ntsb.gov. Arvada Police and other responding agencies provided emergency medical services to the injured victims. No one was home at the time of the crash in the yard.
The NTSB senior accident investigator, Alex Lemishko, stated that the pilot may have been trying to find a suitable place to land and avoid further damage. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
