Nuggets emerge victorious against Kings following the dismissals of Michael Malone and Calvin Booth

David Adelman, son of former Sacramento head coach Rick Adelman, took over as the Denver Nuggets’ interim head coach after the firing of Michael Malone. In his debut game against the Kings, the Nuggets secured a 124-116 victory, breaking a four-game losing streak.

The Nuggets, with a record of 48-32, were in a tight race for playoff seeding in the Western Conference. With a key win over the Kings and a loss by the Golden State Warriors, Denver moved ahead in the standings. Led by Christian Braun’s 25 points and Nikola Jokic’s triple-double, the team showed resilience and team effort under Adelman’s leadership.

Despite starting point guard Jamal Murray’s absence due to injury, Adelman continued to give young guard Jalen Pickett opportunities in the starting lineup. Pickett responded with 18 points, including a pivotal 3-pointer in the closing minutes of the game.

On the Kings’ side, trade deadline acquisition Zach LaVine led the team with 27 points and 11 assists. Although they made a late-game push, the Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. responded with crucial 3-pointers to maintain their lead.

The victory over the Kings marked a positive start for Adelman and the Nuggets as they aim to secure their playoff position in the competitive Western Conference. Fans can stay updated on all the latest Nuggets news by signing up for the Nuggets Insider newsletter.
