Defense Department schools threaten Pro-DEI student protesters

The Defense Department has removed or plans to delete thousands of websites to comply with President Trump’s order eliminating diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including pages on the Holocaust and 9/11. This has resulted in protests from students at military schools around the globe, objecting to changes in curriculum and campus life since Trump took office. Many students have been threatened with punishment if they participate in protests, leading to lower turnouts at demonstrations. Students have reported facing verbal threats and fear of retaliation for speaking out against these changes. The sudden shifts in curriculum and policies have led to a lack of support for marginalized students, including the removal of club posters and topics like African American history from the curriculum. Students are concerned about the lack of spaces for them to feel safe and express themselves. Despite the threats and fears of punishment, some students have continued to protest in order to advocate for their rights and speak out against the changes imposed by the Defense Department.
