Approximately 600 pounds of marijuana were stolen from a secured Colorado State Patrol container in Arapahoe County, CSP announced in a news release on Tuesday. The theft occurred after dark, with suspects using a power tool to remove locks from a side gate and the container. Following the incident, authorities identified security gaps and increased security measures, including more frequent camera checks and security walkthroughs. An internal investigation is also underway. The burglary was first discovered last Friday when evidence of a break-in was noticed by an evidence technician. The marijuana in question had been part of a highway drug investigation and there is no active court case involving it. The authorities are continuing to investigate the theft and are urging anyone with information to come forward. As a result of this incident, the CSP is reviewing and enhancing its security protocols to prevent a similar situation from happening in the future.
