Construction of the $150 million entertainment development known as the Four Mile District in Glendale, Colorado has hit a snag due to a lawsuit filed by the developer Glendale Development Partners LLC against the City of Glendale for breach of contract. The developer claims the city modified the title to the property by using an incomplete and erroneous legal description. In response, the city called the lawsuit frivolous and performative.
This legal battle is not the first hurdle the project has faced, as owners of a nearby rug store previously took the city to court over land acquisition, resulting in delays. However, despite setbacks, the Glendale City Council approved the project in 2021, and construction began in the same year. The entertainment complex, situated on Creekside Park, will include a hotel, concert venue, movie theater, dining options, nightclubs, and common consumption areas.
Residents in the area have expressed excitement for the project but also concern over potential green space loss. The fate of Creekside Park, a popular spot for many visitors, remains uncertain as the lawsuit progresses. A review hearing is scheduled for May 16 in Arapahoe County court. Despite the legal challenges, the community eagerly anticipates the completion of the Four Mile District and the entertainment options it will bring to Glendale.
