Jessica Hoff, a woman from Colorado, is facing serious charges after her elderly mother with dementia was found dead in their home. LaVonne Hoff, 76, was discovered unconscious by deputies who responded to a report at their Colorado City residence. An autopsy revealed that she had died from injuries sustained in a dog attack. Her daughter, Jessica, who was supposed to be caring for her, had allegedly left her alone to run errands in another town.
When authorities arrived at the home, they found numerous dogs both loose and caged, along with birds living in poor conditions. A further search of another property owned by Jessica uncovered more animals in distress. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office worked with Animal Law Enforcement to seize the dogs and birds and charge Jessica with over 50 counts of animal cruelty.
In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Jessica has been officially charged with criminal negligence resulting in the death of an at-risk adult. She is currently being held at the Pueblo County Jail with a bond set at $50,000. Jessica is scheduled to appear in court on March 27 to face these charges. This tragic case raises concerns about the need for proper care of vulnerable individuals and the welfare of animals in home environments.
