The Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) is currently hosting a pop-up exhibit called “Brick by Brick,” featuring art entirely made from Legos. The exhibition was created by high school senior Mason Martin as part of his capstone project. Martin was inspired to create Lego art after a set fell apart and he realized he could make his own creations with the pieces. The exhibit showcases nearly 50 unique builds, from landscapes to sculptures, all made entirely from Legos.
Sara Miller, the executive director of CAE, praised the exhibition for bringing the community together through art and showcasing a different type of artistic expression. Martin, who volunteered at CAE, organized the event, submitted his own art, reached out to artists, and helped judge the pieces in various categories. He even got assistance from Colorado native Moto, a prominent figure in the world of Lego art.
The exhibition has been well received by Moto, other artists, and gallery viewers, who were impressed by the quality of the art and Martin’s work as a curator. The exhibit is only running from March 13 through March 22 at the Center for the Arts Evergreen, located at 31880 Rocky Village Drive. Martin’s journey from dropping a Lego set to curating a successful Lego art exhibit showcases the creative and collaborative spirit of the local community.
