Eleven out of the 12 suspects wanted in connection with a December home invasion in Aurora have been arrested, with the latest arrest being 24-year-old Breider Jhoan Ospino-Morillo. Ospino-Morillo was apprehended by the Auburn Hills Police Department after investigating retail fraud at a shopping mall. He was wanted on multiple charges including kidnapping, robbery, menacing, and extortion related to the home invasion at The Edge at Lowry Apartments.
The case originated from a cellphone video showcasing criminal activity at the apartment complex. The suspects invaded the victims’ home, assaulted and robbed them, and forced them to share financial information. The incident was linked to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, and the apartment complex was eventually shut down due to gang-related activity.
A total of 19 individuals were detained initially, with three released and 16 placed in ICE custody. Charges were filed against nine suspects in January, and the 10th suspect was arrested in February. Ospino-Morillo’s arrest increases the number of captured suspects to 11, with one remaining at large.
Following investigations, the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office will officially file charges. The police are working to apprehend the remaining suspect. The Denver Gazette contributed to the report on this ongoing case.
