Mass Vaccination Clinics for Measles to be Held at Denver Health

Denver Health will be hosting mass vaccination clinics for the measles virus at School-based Health Centers in Denver Public Schools in response to outbreaks in nearby states. Measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia and brain swelling. Two clinics will offer free measles vaccines to kids and teens with parental consent, regardless of whether they are students. The first clinic will be held on March 14 at Rachel B Knoll Campus, with a second clinic at Kepner Middle School on March 21. A third clinic will be open to the entire community at Place Bridge Academy on April 1. Maribel Reyes Cossio, Pathway Programs Project Coordinator at School-Based Health Centers, emphasizes the importance of community participation to protect children from the disease. To make an appointment at one of the clinics, individuals can visit the website or call 303-602-8958.

The initiative aims to prevent measles outbreaks in Denver by ensuring widespread vaccination coverage, particularly among vulnerable populations. By coming together as a community, Denver residents can help safeguard against the spread of this contagious disease. Denver Health’s efforts to offer no-cost vaccinations through these clinics reflect a commitment to public health and community well-being.
