U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is set to deliver the keynote address at the Colorado Democratic Party’s annual fundraising dinner in May. Known for her progressive policies and advocacy for working families, Warren will be joining Colorado Democrats and Senator John Hickenlooper to kick off the fight to hold Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress accountable in the midterm elections. The event, titled the 8th annual Obama Gala, will be held on May 31 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib expressed his honor at Warren accepting the invitation to headline the event, praising her dedication to championing working families and holding corporations accountable. The event will feature tickets priced from $225 up to $10,000 for a table.
In contrast, Colorado Republicans announced that former Trump administration official Steve Bannon will headline their annual Centennial Dinner in March. The state Democrats’ annual banquet, renamed the Obama Gala in 2018, is traditionally held in conjunction with the party’s reorganization meeting in March or April. This year, it was moved to May to avoid inclement weather and ensure legislators are not tied up late at the State Capitol.
Past speakers at the Democrats’ dinner have included U.S. Senator Cory Booker, U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson, U.S. Reps. Grace Meng and Hakeem Jeffries, and U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. Warren’s upcoming appearance is highly anticipated as she shares her insights on fighting for working people and combating corruption in government.
