Longmont High School’s boys basketball team emerged victorious with a 41-34 win against Grand Junction in the first round of the Class 5A state tournament. A highlight-reel dunk by senior Rhys Odom set the tone for the Trojans, who will now face Windsor in the second round. Despite missing key player Joey Foot due to injury, Longmont was led by junior Dominic Lombrano’s 14 points and Odom’s 11 points. Sophomore Ty Gaddis also contributed nine points to the win.
The Trojans initially struggled defensively, allowing Grand Junction to take an early lead. However, they rallied back with strong performances from Odom and freshman David Valles in the second half, securing the victory. Coach Jeff Kloster praised Odom’s impactful minutes off the bench and highlighted the team’s collective effort in overcoming their slow start.
Looking ahead to their matchup against Windsor, Kloster emphasized the team’s focus on being a second-half team and maintaining their energy throughout the game. With the win over Grand Junction, the Trojans have earned another opportunity to showcase their skills on the court.
