Lafayette man charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a child

Christopher Jacob Rockelein, a 23-year-old man from Lafayette, turned himself in to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office on charges of sexual exploitation of a child. The charges include online enticement of a child, distribution, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Rockelein was booked into the Boulder County Jail with no bond on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

The investigation began after the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a tip about the distribution of child sexual abuse material. The tip led investigators to Boulder County, where they identified Rockelein as a suspect. A search warrant was executed at Rockelein’s residence in Lafayette, where images and videos depicting girls aged 8-14 were found on his devices.

Additionally, chat messages with a person claiming to be a 10-year-old girl in another state were discovered by police. Rockelein is facing charges of two counts of sexual exploitation of a child – enticement, four counts of distribution, three counts of possession of child sexual abuse videos, and three counts of possession of images.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to this case or any other incidents of child exploitation to come forward. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children played a crucial role in providing information that led to Rockelein’s arrest.
