Real Estate Developer Shot Dead at Luxury Resort in Belize
Boris Mannsfeld, a 56-year-old real estate developer from Colorado, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the back of the neck at Cocoplum Villas in Maya Beach, Belize. The luxury villas were one of Mannsfeld’s development projects. His body was discovered by police with a loaded 9mm pistol nearby, as well as a bullet shell casing and his wallet containing cash and ID. Mannsfeld had been involved in legal battles and had accused people of fraud, including being part of a $3.9 million lawsuit against a former business associate. Two of Mannsfeld’s former associates were also murdered in 2023 and 2024, with both cases remaining unsolved.
Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, stated that the murder of Mannsfeld “has all indications of a hit” and is being investigated for possible connections to the deaths of his former associates. Police are looking into Mannsfeld’s business transactions with other individuals to determine a possible motive.
The Belize Police Department and Cocoplum Villas did not immediately respond to inquiries for further information. Mannsfeld had moved to Belize in 2006 and founded Boris Mannsfeld & Associates Belize Real Estate in 2010. His death has shocked the local community and raises concerns about safety in the area.
