Zac Veen and Michael Toglia continue to sizzle

Top prospect Chase Dollander had an impressive Cactus League debut for the Rockies on Monday, giving up one run on two hits over two innings. Despite serving up a home run in the first inning, Dollander struck out three batters. Tanner Gordon pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, but Dugan Darnell gave up a game-tying RBI double in the ninth.

At the plate, outfield prospect Zac Veen and first baseman Michael Toglia stood out with Veen going 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base, and Toglia hitting a solo home run. However, Nolan Jones is still looking for his first hit of the spring, going 0 for 3 with two strikeouts.

Catcher Braxton Fulford, who caught Dollander last season, impressed Manager Bud Black with his skills behind the plate. Fulford went 0 for 2 at the plate.

The Rockies will face the White Sox on Tuesday, with RHP German Marquez and LHP Austin Gomber among the probable pitchers. Fans can sign up for the Rockies Insider for more MLB analysis from The Denver Post.
