Meghan’s New Name: He’s Been Using It for Years

Mark Kolski, a designer behind a vintage-inspired workwear brand called As Ever, found himself in a whirlwind of confusion and speculation after Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, announced the name of her new cooking and lifestyle brand also as As Ever. Kolski’s phone was inundated with messages from friends and fans alerting him to the similarity in names.

As Mr. Kolski navigated the aftermath, he consulted with a lawyer and explored his options but expressed that he was not planning any legal action against Meghan. Despite the tabloid coverage and the surge of interest in his brand following the incident, he maintained that he did not harbor any resentment towards the Duchess. Professor Jeanne Fromer, a specialist in intellectual property law, noted that even though Kolski does not have a registered trademark, he may have protection simply for having done business under that name.

While the episode with Meghan has brought increased awareness to his brand, Kolski remains focused on his work and keeping the focus on his designs. He mentioned that he had no intention of pursuing a legal dispute at the moment and was grateful for the newfound attention on his fashion line.

In the midst of the media frenzy surrounding the naming confusion, Mr. Kolski reiterated that there was no animosity between him and Meghan and that he was handling the situation with a focus on his business rather than engaging in any legal battle.
