The Colorado Buffaloes suffered a 71-59 defeat against No. 17 Kansas, keeping them winless in the Big 12 Conference and extending their losing streak to 13 games. Despite a strong fight in the second half, CU was unable to overcome a rough first half where Kansas shot .571 and dominated on the boards. Three stars of the game included Hunter Dickinson from KU, Sebastian Rancik from CU, and Zeke Mayo from KU.
Rancik had a breakout game with 19 points and nine rebounds, showcasing resilience and confidence despite the loss. The Buffs also saw contributions from Andrej Jakimovski and Elijah Malone, who had strong performances in the second half. Although the Buffs closed the gap to just six points at one point in the second half, Kansas gradually pulled away to secure the victory.
Coach Tad Boyle acknowledged the tough season the team was having but praised their fight and effort during the game. Despite the loss, there were positive takeaways for the Buffaloes, including a season-low in turnovers and a strong defensive effort in the second half. With the loss, CU will face Central Florida next in an attempt to avoid tying the program’s longest losing streak in history.
