Golden, Colo. is gearing up for the annual event known as Goldens in Golden, where hundreds of golden retrievers and their owners come together in celebration. Started in 2019 to coincide with National Golden Retriever Day in February, the event has become a major draw for the city, boosting business for small local establishments.
Economic Development Manager Robin Fleischmann shared that Goldens in Golden is typically the busiest day of the year for many businesses in the area. The event, scheduled for February 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., brings in thousands of people along with their furry companions, filling up hotels like The Golden Hotel, where reservations are made well in advance.
Special deals are offered by various businesses during the event, including Kona Bowl Superfoods owner Alissa Mattson, who creates a special doggy bowl with banana, peanut butter, and flaxseed for the occasion. One of the highlights of Goldens in Golden is the annual group photo taken under the Welcome to Golden arch, with three time slots available for participants.
With Mozzarella, the Denver7 Dogs mascot, set to join in the festivities, the community is eagerly anticipating another successful year of Goldens in Golden. The event serves as a fun and wholesome gathering for both pets and their owners, reinforcing the strong bond between humans and their canine companions.
