Colorado Woman Found Guilty in Boyfriend’s Murder After Job Dispute
Ashley White, a 29-year-old Colorado woman, has been convicted of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery in connection with the August 2020 killing of her boyfriend, 28-year-old Cody DeLisa. The case was described as a volatile and strained relationship with DeLisa criticizing White for her struggles in finding a job, leading to tension between the two.
The incident escalated after White attempted to harm DeLisa’s cat, raising concerns about her mental well-being. On the day of the killing, White had a job interview in Denver and texted DeLisa about it. When he expressed skepticism about her chances of getting the job, it allegedly upset White.
During the trial, prosecutors revealed that White met a stranger named “Scott” on the bus, who encouraged her to kill DeLisa. They went to White’s home, where Scott posed as her brother from Texas. DeLisa was shot twice in the head and robbed of his wallet. White and Scott spent a few days together before parting ways.
Years later, a woman came forward claiming her boyfriend, Michael Stratton, who was in custody for another murder, may have been “Scott.” The description of Stratton’s confession matched White’s account of the crime. However, Stratton was deemed incompetent to stand trial for the other murder and has not been charged in connection with DeLisa’s death.
White is set for sentencing on April 4, with her attorney unavailable for comment. The tragic case highlights the dangers of strained relationships and the impact of mental health issues on criminal behavior.
