Anglican Catholic Priest in Grand Rapids, Michigan Removed from Position by Church

The Anglican Catholic Church has removed a Grand Rapids priest, Calvin Robinson, from his position after he made a “pro-Nazi salute” during an event in Washington, D.C. The church stated that the gesture was seen as a mockery of the Holocaust and was harmful and divisive. Robinson denied being a Nazi and stated that the gesture was meant as a joke. However, the national Anglican Church revoked his license due to his actions. Robinson had previously been warned about engaging in online trolling and other incompatible actions, but did not heed the warning. Robinson was ordained in the Free Church of England and Nordic Catholic Church before serving at St. Paul’s Anglican Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. The Anglican Catholic Church was established in 1978 as an orthodox jurisdiction maintaining traditional Anglicanism. Grand Rapids is governed by the church’s Midwest Diocese based in Indianapolis. Besides St. Paul’s, there are two other ACC churches in Michigan. The gesture made by Robinson was similar to one made by Elon Musk, but context was important in understanding the intention behind the gesture. Robinson’s license was revoked by the ACC due to his actions being interpreted as trying to gain favor with certain political elements in the United States.
