How much snow will Colorado ski areas receive in their daily snow report?

After a 20-day dry spell, skiers and riders at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area in Colorado can look forward to fresh powder as heavy snow is forecasted for early this week. The Steep Gullies terrain at the ski area was opened for the first time during the 2024-25 ski season, with the rest set to open in the coming days. The East Wall is expected to open by the end of February or early March.

Southern Colorado is expected to see significant snowfall with totals between 10-20 inches in the San Juan Mountains by Thursday morning. The storm system is forecasted to stay south of Interstate 70, with only a trace to 2 inches of snow expected in the central and northern mountains. The snow is expected to clear out by the weekend.

Despite a lack of significant snow accumulation in January, ski resorts in the southern mountains such as Silverton, Purgatory, Telluride, and Wolf Creek have all struggled to reach 120 inches on the season. However, with heavy snow in the forecast, these resorts are likely to see improved conditions for skiers and riders.

The long-range forecast predicts a dusting of snow in the northern mountains on Saturday, but further updates will be needed to confirm this. Overall, the return of snowfall is welcome news for ski enthusiasts in Colorado.
