Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, spotted at Trump rally in Vegas.

Stewart Rhodes, founder of the right-wing militia group Oath Keepers, had his prison sentence for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack commuted by former President Donald Trump. Rhodes was released from prison Tuesday and attended Trump’s rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, where he stood behind the former president as he spoke about his first week in office. Rhodes, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy and received an 18-year sentence, was among 14 individuals whose sentences were commuted by Trump, all of whom were members of the Oath Keepers or Proud Boys groups. Trump defended his decision to pardon and commute the sentences of those involved in the Jan. 6 attack, stating he believed their sentences were excessive. Despite a court order for Rhodes to stay away from the Capitol, Trump’s Justice Department objected, claiming the judge lacked the authority to make such an order. The commutations have been met with controversy and criticism, with many arguing that those involved in the attack should face consequences for their actions.
