X Games CEO Jeremy Bloom is in talks with a Denver ownership group to potentially bring a team to the X Games League, part of the extreme sports circuit’s planned changes for 2026 and beyond. The league will feature pro-sports-styled teams competing over an eight-city tour/league schedule, with four stops in winter and four in summer. Teams will consist of 10 athletes, five men and five women, with nicknames and identities linked to specific cities or regions. Contracts will include salaries, travel stipends, and health care, giving the X Games a more traditional sports league feel. The X Games also plan to focus on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat for future content distribution. Bloom wants to create compelling moments during events, similar to the tension in key athletic performances like Shaun White’s last run at the Olympics. While the possibility of a Denver-based team in the new league format is on the table, the fate of the X Games in Aspen, a long-standing tradition, is still being negotiated. The X Games have received bids from 35 cities around the world to host games as part of their expanded schedule. Bloom emphasized the importance of Colorado in the X Games’ plans and expressed a commitment to work towards keeping Aspen on the tour. This new direction represents a shift towards more structured competition and mainstream appeal for the X Games.
