The CU men’s basketball program has announced the creation of a new “Wall of Honor” at the CU Events Center. The wall will showcase the jerseys of 10 former Buffs who have had successful careers in the NBA or as Olympic Gold Medalists. The list of honorees includes legends such as Chauncey Billups, Alec Burks, and current Portland Trail Blazers head coach Tad Boyle.
According to CU, the Wall of Honor is long overdue and serves as a testament to the success of men’s basketball players after they leave the University of Colorado. Players will be recognized in person at upcoming games, with Haldorson, Meely, and Davis slated to be honored on Jan. 28 against Arizona State, and Humphries on Feb. 8 against Houston.
Billups, a Colorado native, played 17 seasons in the NBA, made five All-Star Games, and was the NBA Finals MVP in 2004. White, a recent NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, and Olympic gold medalist, will also be honored on the wall. Burks, Roberson, and Dinwiddie are familiar names to newer CU fans, while Davis, Haldorson, Humphries, Meely, and Wedman represent earlier eras of Buffs basketball.
The Wall of Honor is a way for the university to honor the success of players who have gone on to achieve greatness in their careers after their time at CU. Fans can learn more about the inductees by visiting the CU men’s basketball website.
