Tragic Shooting at Nashville High School Claims One Life
Nashville, TN – A tragic shooting unfolded Wednesday at Antioch High School, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old student and injuries to another. According to police, a 17-year-old student, identified as Solomon Henderson, opened fire in the school cafeteria, before turning the gun on himself.
The incident began around 11:09 a.m. local time. Surveillance footage indicated that Henderson likely retrieved his weapon from a restroom before confronting fellow student Josselin Corea Escalante. In addition to Escalante’s fatal injury, a male student sustained a graze wound to the arm, while another student was treated for a facial injury incurred during the chaos.
Nashville Police Chief John Drake confirmed that a SWAT team conducted a thorough search of the school and found no further threats, assuring the public that there was no ongoing danger. Authorities are still investigating the motivation behind the shooting and whether the victims were specifically targeted or simply caught in the line of fire.
In light of the tragedy, the Nashville school district reiterated its commitment to student safety, mentioning the presence of school resource officers and security measures in place.
