Despite these controversies, some Republicans on the Senate Armed Services Committee have supported Hegseth, arguing that he is a change agent who can shake up the military and bring about much-needed reforms.
However, Democrats on the committee have raised concerns about Hegseth’s lack of experience and his past statements opposing women in combat roles. Some have also criticized his past behavior towards women and his alleged financial mismanagement of nonprofit organizations. Despite these concerns, Hegseth has continued to defend himself and his nomination, stating that he is ready to lead the military and implement changes to current policies within the Pentagon.
