Jamie Jackson secures victory in House District 41, Colorado elections


Arapahoe County Democrats elected Jamie Jackson to serve as the state representative for House District 41, replacing Sen. Iman Jodeh. Jackson, the COO of The Naloxone Project and vice president of Colorado Black Women for Political Action, won the vacancy election with 52% of the vote. The other candidates, Aly DeWillis-Marcano and Anne Keke, highlighted their progressive platforms and commitment to the community. DeWillis-Marcano emphasized her experiences as a wheelchair user and member of the LGBTQ community, while Keke highlighted her work on the Aurora Public Schools board. Jackson, who serves as the criminal justice chairperson for the Aurora NAACP, stressed her dedication to helping others. Jackson received 10 of the 19 committee votes, winning the election and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community. With a background in nonprofit work, activism, and community engagement, Jackson is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the role and work towards creating a healthier, more affordable, and just future for House District 41.
