Seven police officers in San Antonio, Texas, were shot by a barricaded suspect while responding to a “suicide in progress” call. Chief William McManus stated that the incident began when a family member reported the situation. The officers were shot at an apartment complex on Stone Oak Parkway. The first officer to arrive was shot, followed by six others. Four officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the condition of the other three officers remains unclear. A SWAT team arrived on the scene, and the suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment for several hours. The suspect was later found deceased, and it is unknown whether the cause of death was self-inflicted or due to SWAT officers. The suspect, who had prior assault and DWI charges, was out on bond at the time. Gabe Hauari is a national trending news reporter at USA TODAY.
