DPS and Other Metro-Area Districts to Postpone Classes on Tuesday Due to Weather Conditions

Press Release: Denver Metro Area Schools Announce Delays Due to Severe Weather

DENVER, CO — February 12, 2024 — In response to severe weather conditions, Denver Public Schools (DPS) and several metro-area districts have declared a two-hour delay for classes on Tuesday. DPS has confirmed that all district schools and administrative offices, including Emily Griffith Technical College, will operate on a delayed schedule. Consequently, all school-related events and activities will also be pushed back by two hours.

Weld RE-4 School District and St. Vrain Valley Schools have joined in announcing similar delays for their students. Both districts will start all in-person classes and adjust bus pick-up times by two hours. Additionally, Weld RE-4 School District has canceled all morning-only preschool classes, and there will be no morning AlphaBEST programming.

Littleton Public Schools has followed suit, announcing a two-hour delayed start for Tuesday morning as well. While the morning is expected to be chilly, temperatures are projected to rise by sunrise, with expected highs reaching the mid- to upper 30s across most areas of the Front Range.

As safety remains a priority, parents and students are urged to stay updated on weather conditions and school announcements. For more information on school closures and delays, community members can refer to local news outlets or the respective school district’s website.

Stay safe as the community navigates these winter weather challenges.
