Two firefighters injured and six units damaged in Bronx apartment fire

Firefighters in the Bronx worked quickly to save an apartment complex that caught fire at 3030 Heath Avenue. The fire was reported around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and firefighters arrived in under four minutes to find heavy flames on the top floor and cockloft of the complex. They aggressively moved in to extinguish the fire, cutting open the roof to make the save. The fire was under control by 8:08 p.m., with no resident injuries reported, but six to eight units suffered extensive damage, and two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

The fire was classified as a 4-alarm fire, with 39 units and 168 personnel responding. The American Red Cross is helping to relocate residents affected by the fire. This incident comes nearly a week after another fire in the Bronx that left several people injured, including firefighters. In that case, the fire was classified as a 5-alarm fire, and firefighters had to battle the flames from outside the building due to the dangerous conditions inside.

Both incidents highlight the bravery and quick response of firefighters in the Bronx, who risked their lives to save residents and extinguish the fires. Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the most recent fire, as the community works to recover and rebuild in the aftermath of these devastating events.
