David Shaw, Broncos executive, interviews for Bears head coach position

The Chicago Bears interviewed Broncos senior personnel executive David Shaw for their head coach opening. Shaw, who completed his first season with the Broncos last June, has college and NFL coaching experience, including serving as Stanford’s head coach from 2011-22. He has also worked as an assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. Shaw was in the running for the Broncos’ head coaching job after Nathaniel Hackett was fired in 2022, a position that ultimately went to Sean Payton.

In addition to Shaw, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is expected to interview for head coaching positions with the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets. Broncos assistant general manager Darren Mougey has also interviewed for the Jets’ vacant general manager job.

The Broncos are making moves within their coaching staff and front office as they look to build on their success. The team believes that reaching the playoffs is now the franchise’s new baseline with their entire offensive line returning in 2025. Players like defensive tackle D.J. Jones and outside linebacker Nik Bonitto are key contributors, with Bonitto positioning himself for a contract extension after an All-Pro season.
