Arrests Made in Mississippi After Sober Living House Killing in Colorado

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office announced that the body of Stephen Walker, a 37-year-old man from Cimmaron Hills, Colorado, was found in a wooded area outside of El Paso County. Walker had been reported missing nearly three weeks ago from his sober living house, and his roommate, Johnny Rankin Morris, was arrested in Mississippi and charged with his murder. Morris is facing first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Walker’s death.

Additionally, the body of Timmy Huston, 65, was found in Park County, Colorado, and Morris and his accomplice Hailey Cole were arrested in Mississippi in connection with this case as well. Morris and Cole are both facing first-degree murder charges for Huston’s death.

Walker’s family and friends described him as an inspiration, as he had helped others get sober and was working on his own recovery. The investigation into Walker’s disappearance and subsequent murder included an extensive search in multiple locations throughout Colorado and Mississippi.

Morris is currently awaiting extradition from Mississippi and is being held without bond. It remains unclear whether the suspects have obtained legal representation to comment on their behalf. The tragic and unsettling events have shocked the local community in Cimarron Hills and raised concerns about safety in sober living facilities.
