Fire Breaks Out at Aurora Condominium Complex, No Injuries Reported
AURORA, Colo. — Firefighters responded to a fire at the Appletree East Condominiums on Monday evening, with emergency calls flooding in around 5 p.m. from residents who noticed smoke and flames. The condominium complex is situated near Parker Road and East Quincy Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing shattering glass and popping wood as the blaze intensified.
Upon arrival, Aurora Fire Rescue (AFR) discovered heavy smoke and flames emanating from a second-floor unit of the three-story building. Fortunately, the owners were not home, allowing firefighters to forcefully enter the unit to extinguish the fire. Thanks to their swift action, the fire was contained to the one apartment and did not spread to adjacent areas. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
AFR is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire, working diligently to determine how it began. In light of this event, the fire department cautions residents about fire hazards, particularly as cooler temperatures are forecast for the upcoming weekend. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, fatal residential fires are more prevalent during colder months, reaching a peak in January, which has prompted AFR to remind the community to be vigilant when utilizing space heaters.
As the community reflects on this incident, Aurora Fire Rescue emphasizes the importance of fire safety, urging residents to ensure their homes are equipped with working smoke detectors and to practice fire safety measures during the winter months.
